love01  The crele chicks are very beautiful.  Some are more orange and some are more grey.

See how their little wing feathers are already grey and white striped?   lol  One chick today had a tiny orange feather on his back.  This video explains the chick color scheme.

Awesome.... Dawn are the Crele OE sexable with the stripe thru their eye like the others? I had never heard this till I started hatching for the local "banty girl"... And sure enough, it turned out she was right on the numbers at a day old....

The ones with the distinct chipmunk stripes on the back are the little girls.  The chicks with a lighter pattern are the males.  I'll take some more pictures of their faces so we can look at the eye stripe.  Hopefully soon we can compare with the brassy back chicks.   They are on lockdown now, hatching Wednesday.

There is the one that hatched yesterday and now another is hatching -- it has pipped all around.  Doesn't look like a very good hatch.  It's typical of my brassy backs for the hens to be ready before the roosters.  Last year I only got one chick in the first egg setting.  That chick turned out to be Little Joe.  He was raised with buckeyes -- maybe that's why he has such a nice temperament.  I put him in several times with the young brassy back hens.  Sadly, he seems to prefer the big girls.  He adores Fuzzy, the young buckeye hen (daughter of Mama Hen).  They are often together.  He is too little to mate with her, but stands beside her and holds her head down.  Also, he thinks he is the boss of the two buckeye pullets and the two white cornish hens.  Also, he's been keeping an eye on the new chicks and thinks they are his.
