Can't wait to see your young ones.  My oldest buckeye chicks are going outside in a few days.  The creles are outside already in the rabbit hutch.  Finding more space for growing birds is my new obsession.   hit the fan

A bag of equine pellets will save you from the mud.  A few days ago I had to use it in the turkey pen.  The rain blew in sideways and the birds had mired it up real good.  Sprinkle the pellets around evenly with a big feed scoop.  In less than an hour you and the birds can walk on it.  In 24 hours you will have a really nice dirt and sawdust floor.    And it will resist muddiness for a while after - depending on how much rain you get.

No more brooders!  At least for a couple of weeks.  I still need to hatch some more Italian coturnix, AHQ and brassy backs.  All the young buckeyes are outside except for the last seven.   flap  flap  It's amazing how much room there is now to walk around!   lol  Today's job is cleaning the quail porch.   afraid

It's a good feelin ain't it Dawn..... and kinda sad at the same time... I don't know bout you, but I don't ever spend as much time on them once they go outside. The sit'n and watch'n them time is cut in half at least. Sounds like you still got some hatch'n to do too! I'm done with the Cornish this year. 60+ in the brooders and grow out pens. Iv sold and gave away a shit ton of eggs this year. Mailed the 19th box out tues. actually went down your way Dawn, Fairview TX.... but with those that makes 466 eggs shipped for the season. That ain't count' n the ones I hatched myself... so the girls have done well. I am still hatch'n the BB OEB for the little 4H girl. They are do'n better fertility wise this year but I still can't make myself like'em.... just ain't my thing. the last group I just candled yesterday. 19 out of 20 were developing. I already hatched and started 13 for her so she will end up with a nice size flock by fall.... they show this line and say it does real well. Just tiny little birds with big attitudes as far as I can see thou. Wouldn't fry for squat! ;-) good to
Hear from you Dawn.....

Bill, I'm so tickled to hear of your white Cornish wildfire.  I'll get some eggs from you next year.  I really like looking at them.  My two hens are broody right now.  They have a smaller tail than the buckeyes, so there is a chance Little Joe was successful with them.  We'll see.    LOL
