I got 25 Brassy Back OE Game bantams from Ideal Poultry in Cameron, TX.  They are now 8 weeks old.

Here is a pullet.  She has a nice orange breast already.

This little cockerell is solid black still.  It will be okay.  Most of his color will come from hackles, saddle feathers and so on.  I see a surprising amount of green shine in his tail.  That's got to be a good sign!

This cockerel is just starting to show a little color.

These are really enjoyable chickens.  They become very tame and friendly.

Yes!  Mr. Big Stuff and his ladies came from the Cathunter.  I sure miss him!

Mr. Big Stuff has passed away.  He left some fine chicks behind.  There were four roosters and the one that looks the most like him is the youngest.  I call him Little Big Stuff.  He is quite a dancer.  When I bring his food he starts shuffling his feet and bobbing his head.   roflmao  He will soon be settling in with two hens.  They are just starting to begin to think about laying.

The new chicks will have a high bar to live up to.

I remember Mr. Big Stuff Dawn (pretty boy).....what happened to him? Did the critter get him or was it just his time?

Mr. Big Stuff and one of his hens just vanished on night.  I suspect critters did this, but there was no sign at the time.  Those two chickens insisted on sleeping in a tree.  One remaining hen (Pumpkin) lived because she slept in her little house.  I brought that hen in the quail porch to make sure she was safe.  She has selected a new rooster (Bruiser), so now she is in a cage with him.  In fact, yesterday she laid their first egg!
