Its been a long winter with no birds lay'n or eggs to

. So it was time for a project! I put up pix of my

1911 with the laser do hickey a while back.... I have loved this gun for a long time. Never had a holster for it I really liked thou. The common nylon crap just never seemed right.... 30 odd years ago we did a bit of leather work. Always enjoyed it but just kinda got out of the habit. Well, little brother made himself a holster a year or so ago and had some scraps left over, too much to throw away. He gave them to me and they been lay'n on my gun bench for a year now. Its time to build a good holster for the .45..... its legal to carry in Ks but I dont want to be obvious with a big hog leg pistol in the open. So something above my wallet that my flannel will hide is what I had in mind. After play'n around with a few paper patterns, I cut some leather..... Now the typical Mexican/cowboy, flowery tooling aint really my style. But I enjoy the art and do'n the work, so I went my own way here too..... The end product came out very well IMHO..... I used a double saddle stitch that should out last my grand daughter's children... All holes were hand punched with a diamond awl for the sew'n . The tread was heavy and waxed....
Pieces cut and tooling started.....

Skull tooling done and sewing started.....

Done, stained and fits both my pistol and my personality perfectly.....
