I decided to start a new thread just for the Roux Italians.  These are beautiful multipurpose quail - good layers and meaty breasts.  The following screenshots show the steps in breeding them.  The screenshots are from the Japanese Quail Genetics Calculator.

Step 1:

Roux male x Italian hen likely yield is:
25% Italian male
25% Roux female
25% Roux Italian female
25% Wildtype male

Step 2:

For this cross we use the Roux Italian hens.  They are the Italian hens with brown spots, NO black.

Roux male x Roux Italian hen likely yield is:
25% Roux female
25% Roux male
25% Roux Italian female
25% Roux Italian male

Step 3:

Now we have both male and female Roux Italians.

Roux Italian male x Roux Italian female likely yield is:

12.5% Roux female
12.5% Roux male
25% Roux Italian female
25% Roux Italian male
12.5% Roux Manchurian female
12.5% Roux Manchurian male

Yes, I have these.  I need to look for the pictures.  Will post some soon.  I made the first ones of these about three years ago by accident.  The Roux Italian hens stood out in the grow out cage.  They were obviously dilute but marked like Italians.  I discussed them with Robbie and he suggested to put a Roux roo over the hens.  I was calling them Dilute Italians, but a couple months ago, I was playing with the quail genetics calculator and saw that they labeled these birds Roux Italians.

Just as I made the first hens by accident, I think a lot of people may also see these turn up in their pens.
